Hakili is a team-built French-language platform for digital literacy, covering misinformation, deepfakes, data protection, online harassment, and digital safety. It pairs structured course modules with a conversational assistant that walks users through evaluating online content.
Problem
Digital literacy material on misinformation, deepfakes, and online safety is scarce in French for West African audiences.
My contribution
A conversational learning platform combining structured French course modules with an assistant that discusses a submitted link's credibility rather than pronouncing a verdict on it.
Role: Full-stack engineer — team project.
Method
Content is organised by topic — digital security, social media, privacy, cyberharassment, disinformation, AI ethics, digital wellbeing — and by format, including PDF courses, interactive modules, articles, and video. The assistant accepts a link or an image and discusses signals relevant to its credibility, presented as an assessment to reason about rather than a verdict to accept.
Evaluation
No formal evaluation of educational effect or of assessment accuracy has been conducted. The platform's risk indicators are heuristic and are presented to prompt discussion, not to certify whether content is true.
Outcomes
- Deployed platform with a French-language course library across seven topic areas
- Conversational assistant supporting link and image discussion
Limitations
The system is not a fact-checking service and should not be read as one; its indicators are not validated against ground truth. Educational impact is unmeasured, coverage is limited to French, and the assistant inherits the reliability limits of the underlying model — a serious constraint for a tool in the misinformation domain.
For a tool about misinformation, the reliability bar is higher than for ordinary educational software: a confident wrong answer about whether a source is trustworthy does more damage than no answer at all. That shaped the decision to frame output as discussion rather than judgement.
